Jim Click hosts opening of new car-sales facility

Jim Click hosted the grand opening and ribbon-cutting ceremony Oct. 27 for his new dealership at East 22nd Street and South Wilmot Road.   Special guests included Steve Lyons, vice president of the Ford Motor Co. in Michigan.

The event was catered by Dakota Cafe. It featured tours of the new facility; a museum showcase of historic Ford automobiles; and a jazz band performance, which included musicians who were hurricane evacuees from New Orleans.

At the event, Click announced that he was donating a new Ford Escape hybrid (worth $32,000) to the local Seawater Foundation, a nonprofit environmental organization dedicated to ecological balance.

Mayor Bob Walkup spoke at the event and proclaimed the week of Oct. 24 "Jim Click Week" in Tucson.

Among the nearly 500 who attended were Robert Salvatore, Richard Moret, Julee Dawson, Jason Fenwick and Steve Ochoa.
