Carbon and Automobiles

All cars emit carbon and other greenhouse gases. The new hybrid gasoline/electric cars, emit only half the carbon of a full sized traditional gasoline car. The planting of ¼ acre (1/10 Ha) of seawater forest can sequester that carbon for the life of the hybrid car. The more gasoline your car uses, the more forest you need to plant. By sponsoring the planting of forest areas, the automobile owner has offset the carbon pollution of the normal use of their personal car.

Jim Click Automotive

Earlier this fall, the Jim Click Automotive Team in Tucson donated a new Ford Escape Hybrid to the Seawater Foundation.  The new automobile, valued at $32,000, has been specially decorated with foundation graphics and images of the new site of Seawater Farms Bahia Kino seawater forests and farms in Sonora, Mexico.  The new hybrid will be a central part of the foundation's efforts to eduSeawater Ford Escapecate the public on environmental issues particularly the balance of atmospheric carbon and the danger of Global Warming.

"We applaud the Seawater Foundation's leadership in the area of environmental sustainability, and are proud to recognize its important work with the donation of the new Ford Escape Hybrid," said Jim Click, Jr., president of the Jim Click Automotive Team.

The Ford Escape Hybrid uniquely minimizes exhaust emissions while maximizing fuel efficiency, and represents the kind of dedication to the environment that the foundation has long promoted.

The foundation plans to use the new automobile to define how each of us can balance our car’s emissions with the sequestration of the carbon absorbed in the roots and canopy of the forests we plant.  Each hectare of green planted by the Seawater Foundation will balance the amount of carbon emitted by 7 Ford Escape Hybrids, and it does this the year you buy the car and for the life of the car and after.

Thank you Jim Click and the entire Automotive Group!

Green Cars Come in all Colors

Seawater staffers can also be seen driving this hybrid throughout Arizona and Sonora. This car proudly proclaims (in both English and Spanish), "This Car is Green. The carbon emissions from this car are absorbed by a Seawater forest growing in Sonora, Mexico"
